Description

WordPress is a big business: top theme designers earn a passive income of $10–25K per month! If you'd like to grab your own slice of that cake, this book is for you. More than that, we'll also show you how to build dynamic, robust sites that are easy to update for your clients… all at a fraction of the cost of an enterprise CMS. We'll simplify your life as a developer by introducing you to the Thematic framework, so that building solid themes is a breeze. You'll also learn how to maximize profits by effectively marketing and selling your themes on the Web's biggest marketplaces.

Who is this for?

Build Your Own Wicked WordPress Themes is aimed at front-end Designers looking to branch out from building static sites or simple PHP-based projects into the world of WordPress theme development. You should already have an intermediate knowledge of HTML and CSS, as those technologies are as important to WordPress themes as they are to static websites. We’ll also assume that you know a little bit of PHP; while there’s no requirement for you to be a programming whiz, but you should at least understand concepts such as if statements, loops, functions and variables, and the way PHP generates HTML for output.

This is excellent for learning WordPress themes. I am concerned that some of the links are out of date. Like how to get a copy of Thematic. The link was old and I found a site that said it was no longer supported, then another that said yes, a new version in 2014. Please check all the links to make sure they're up to date. Also, I might add a few graphics, to show how the different files relate to each other. We learn in different ways and sometimes you might have explain something, more than one way, to keep everyone following along. Keep up the good work.
