Who is this for?

This book is aimed primarily at web developers who are already familiar with basic client-side web technologies like CSS and JavaScript. But don't be put off if you're willing to do some learning as you go. JavaScript syntax is pretty straightforward, and the book uses plain-vanilla code that's pretty much free of browser-specific workarounds. The book also provides links to resources you can use to learn more about the technologies used in AJAX development. There’s no need to re-type or re-create any of the examples in the book. As with all our books, you'll receive instant download access to all the example files used, so you can use them immediately in your own web site.

As someone who's not programmed in Javascript or worked with AJAX before, I thought this was a pretty good intro to AJAX. The book starts off with an intro to AJAX and gets more detailed as the book progresses. Good examples. Assumes you kinda know Javascript, so be ready for that if you don't! Otherwise, a good AJAX intro.Recommended.

It’s. clear explanation, in particular for someone new to this item, but some items are out of date.

This book is pretty old. Sitepoint should add a more recent book on AJAX. And I was unable to locate the code download.
