Do some research, find new businesses, businesses with no site or a poor one and contact them personally with a proposition.

I’m not sure what “kind” of website design you do (or would like to do) but if you desire to use something like Webflow, they have a built-in ecosystem that people use to show off their work and attract clients. Dig around for the “made in webflow” section of the site. Through their tool you can share your work and clone other peoples work.

The best way to get regular website design clients is to be proactive. This means sending out emails and following up with phone calls and social media messages to those that you’ve emailed before. It also means following up with the prospects you’ve met at conferences, trade shows, or other events.

Look around you. Do you see businesses who have bad websites? Do you have friends who run businesses? Do you know anybody who sells things?
Talk to them first.
Do a stellar job, ask for recommendation. Show your work, then raise your price little by little as you get more experience.
